2 shot on Kit Carson Street in Sacramento's Upper Land Park neighborhood
SACRAMENTO — Sacramento police are investigating after two women were shot in the Upper Land Park area Monday.
It happened just before 2 p.m. along Kit Carson Street, just west of the Sacramento City Cemetery.
Both women were shot at least one time and have since been hospitalized, police said, and one may have lifelong impacts from the shooting. No arrests have been made.
A separate shooting on the same street left one person dead last Friday. There has not been an arrest made for that shooting either.
Residents in the area say shootings on the block happen nearly every other day.
"Shootings are frequent out here, and the innocent, the windows — one of these days these kids are going to get hit," said one neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous.
She's lived there for more than a decade, and in that time, she says the crime has only gotten worse.
Speed bumps and increased security are just some of the changes she wants to see to protect what she says is a neighborhood filled with children. There's a daycare just feet from the scene of Monday's shooting.
The neighbor hopes it's a wake-up call for city leaders and the Greater Sacramento community.
