2 firefighters hurt after room flashes during fire at Fair Oaks home

Crews battle early morning house fire in Fair Oaks

FAIR OAKS – Two firefighters were hurt in a fire that tore through a Sacramento County home early Wednesday morning.

Metro Fire of Sacramento crews responded to the scene along La Field Drive in Fair Oaks a little after 5:30 a.m. Firefighters immediately made note of hoarder conditions inside.

At one point during the incident, firefighters say everything in one of the rooms of the home reached their ignition point temperatures and immediately flashed – prompting a mayday call by the crew that was in the room.

Officials say two firefighters had to be treated for minor burn-related injuries.

Three of the people who lived at the time had to be evaluated for minor smoke inhalation injuries, firefighters say.

Crews were able to keep the flames from spreading to any other homes.

Firefighters say several animals also remain unaccounted for.

Exactly what started the fire is under investigation.
