SACRAMENTO – A man is dead and a suspected DUI driver is behind bars after a hit-and-run crash late Saturday night in Sacramento, police said.

Around 11:30 a.m., officers responded to Marysville Boulevard and Main Street for a report that a man on a bike was hit by a vehicle.

But when they arrived, the suspected driver was already gone, police said. The suspect, later identified as 53-year-old Vicente Perez of West Sacramento, was found a short distance away, police said.

Officers detained Perez, saying he was showing signs that he was intoxicated. Perez was then arrested and booked into jail on two felony counts, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, jail records show.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the police department.
