You Need To Eat This: Peep S'more

It's Easter time, which to many of us also means it's Peeps time.

You know, those adorable sugar-coated marshmallow critters that somehow always end up being the last thing in the Easter basket – people tend to get creative with them this time of year.

Well, I've found one of the greatest uses of Peeps so far: The Peep S'more.

You can find them at Chateau Café and Cakery on the North Side. I first saw them on the bakery's Instagram account, which is a huge tease by the way.

The Peep s'more is pretty much what you think. It tastes exactly like a regular s'more – minus the charred bits of marshmallow.

I've found in the past that some pre-made s'more-type desserts are lacking in the graham cracker department, but not so for the Peep s'more. It's just a delicious little marshmallow chick, sitting in a pool of creamy milk chocolate, sandwiched between two very crisp grahams. Prepare to leave covered in crumbs.

If you're in the mood for other Peep-inspired treats, they also have a Peep cupcake. It's the best part of everything really, it's just a crazy delicious, super-moist funfetti cake with a marshmallow-y frosting that's completely coated with pastel sugar a-la-Peep. Dreams do come true!

And because my eyes are bigger than my stomach, we also ordered half the bakery.

Here are some other recommendations:

Pizza: Thick crust lovers rejoice! It's a bready dream, covered with tons of cheese and fresh toppings. On this particular day, they had a balsamic veggie and a margherita-type. One slice is plenty to fill up the average person, so naturally I ordered two.

Ham, Bacon and Mayo Panini: Oh. My. God. There is something called "creamy maple mayo" and it's on this sandwich. You guys, it is so good. I'm getting a little teary-eyed remembering it. It's not super sweet and has just enough maple to complement the salty bacon and ham. Truly, you must eat this. (Next time I'll definitely try the Italian Muffuletta too).

Roasted Ranch Potatoes: Aaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! There was a heavenly spotlight shining on our table and a choir of angels singing as we ate up the creamiest, most delicious potatoes. According to the menu, they're just "roasted red-skin potatoes with ranch seasoning," but they are really so much more. Surprisingly, they weren't all that ranch-y, but were so rich and creamy and just melted in your mouth. Melted.

Everything on the menu made my mouth water, so I can't wait to go back and try more.

Chateau Café and Cakery is located in an industrial complex off of Chateau Street, but is worth going out of the way for. And I have to point out how incredibly cheap it is. On our visit we ordered two slices of pizza, two desserts, a panini, a side of potatoes and two pops for $22 -- the Peep s'more was $1.

Happy Good Friday! What's your favorite Easter treat?
