WVU's Bob Huggins Says Leaked Bracket Is A "Borderline Crime"
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Let the madness begin. And it started when West Virginia Head Men's Basketball Coach Bob Huggins joined The Cook and Poni Show on Monday.
Huggins' Mountaineers were selected as a No. 3-seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament and will play Stephen F. Austin on Friday night.
He and his team didn't have to wait long to find out where they were going because the full NCAA Bracket was leaked early and that doesn't sit well with Huggins and the other coaches.
"It's a borderline crime," Huggins said. "They need to fine him or fire him."
Huggins told the guys with the way social media is today everybody knew before the brackets were officially released. He said these guys play for this moment and it was taken away by whoever did this.
Those brackets could have him facing the Pitt Panthers in a possible Sweet 16 game in Philadelphia.
"Do you think there's a couple of story lines in this bracket," Huggins joked with the guys. "You don't think television has anything to do with that do you?"
Huggins has taken two teams to the Final Four and he knows how hard that is, saying you have to be lucky with injuries and the other teams not making shots that they have no business making.
He sees North Carolina as the favorite going in, but says they can be beat, and after that the tournament is wide open.
Huggins told the guys that he didn't like some of the selections by the committee and how some teams were left out. He says each year there seems to be a new criteria for getting in.
"Tell us what to do," Huggins said. "Why would you tell us after the fact? I don't think that is right."
