Worker Dies After Losing Control Of Power Saw Near Boston

DUXBURY (CBS) - Tragedy struck near Boston this weekend when a worker died on a job site.

Late Sunday afternoon, 28-year-old Jason Sanderson was identified as the victim, according to CBS Boston. 

A crew was laying down a water main in Duxbury on Saturday when Sanderson lost control of a saw while cutting a pipe. Co-worker Sam Romanelli witnessed the deadly accident.

"The saw jammed on him and kicked back and got him in the throat. And you know, he stumbled and went down and we tried to do everything we could to stop the bleeding until the paramedics arrived," he said.

Desperate to help, Romanelli did everything he could.

"I ripped off my jacket and my safety vest and I stuffed it into his throat where the cut was and I tried to just apply pressure, kept him upright, tried to keep the blood from coming out," Romanelli added.

Sanderson was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead.
