Woman Suffers Leg Injury In Downtown Bus Accident

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A woman was seriously injured in an accident involving a Port Authority bus this afternoon in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The accident happened just after 5 p.m. at the corner of Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue.

It's not clear what exactly happened, and it's not yet known if the woman was a pedestrian or a bus rider.

There are reports she may have been dragged.

According to Port Authority spokesperson Jim Ritchie, the bus involved was the 61-D on the Murray Route, heading from Grant Street to Smithfield Street.

The woman was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital with a serious leg injury.

There's no word on her condition.

Crews have had to shut down Sixth Avenue from Smithfield Street to Montour Way.
