Woman Pleads Guilty In Purse Snatching That Left Elderly Woman With Broken Hip

UNIONTOWN (AP) — One of two sisters pleaded guilty to her role in a purse-snatching that broke the hip of an 82-year-old southwestern Pennsylvania woman who died months later.

Brittany Boyd, 25, pleaded guilty to charges including robbery and aggravated assault Monday.

A Fayette County judge refused to take a plea from 25-year-old Jenna Boyd on related charges after her sister testified that Jenna Boyd didn't know in advance that her sister planned to snatch the purse.

Mary Margaret Yourchik was buying birthday candles for her daughter and Easter candy for her grandchildren when she was attacked outside a Wal-Mart in South Union Township on March 22, 2012.

Yourchik suffered a stroke in June while recovering from the broken hip and died in a nursing home in November.

Brittany Boyd will be sentenced May 19.
