Woman Dies After Sustaining Serious Injuries In February Crash
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A woman has died after she sustained serious injuries in a car crash on the Fort Pitt Bridge in February.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office says 22-year-old Kaitlyn Kearns, of Irwin, died at 3:01 p.m. Wednesday.
Kearns was injured in a car crash on Feb. 14, 2016.
Police said at the time that a 23-year-old man was driving eastbound on the Fort Pitt Bridge around 3:30 a.m. when he struck a crash cushion. Kearns and two other young adults were passengers in the car.
The driver and one passenger were reported to have moderate injuries, and another passenger sustained a minor injury. Kearns was severely injured. According to police, no one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt. The cause of the crash was unclear.
The medical examiner's office has not yet released a cause of death.
