Shalaya Briston To Be Released From Jail After Allegedly Stabbing NFL Free Agent Terrelle Pryor

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend, NFL free agent Terrelle Pryor, is going to be released from jail.

Shalaya Briston was granted bond at a bail hearing on Tuesday.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports she will be released to her mother's home. She'll be electronically monitored and will only be allowed to leave to attend court proceedings.

Bond was previously denied nearly two weeks ago on Dec. 4.

Briston's attorney, Lee Rothman, believes because Briston has no criminal record and has a job that she is not a risk or threat to the public.

"They didn't put up much of a fight today," Rotham said. "They sort of agreed without agreeing that she should be entitled to some bond. The judge gave her electronic monitoring with no contact to Mr. Pryor," said Rothman.

Briston allegedly stabbed Terrelle Pryor at the Heinz Lofts apartment complex in the North Side after an argument.

Pryor's Attorney Stephen Colafella has said his client was not the aggressor.

Rotham disagrees.

"This has been a traumatic episode for Miss Briston. She's not only a victim but also a defendant. She's been incarcerated and has no criminal record," said Rothman.

Rothman says his client was acting in self-defense on the night of the stabbing.

Briston is charged with attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

In the meantime, the Heinz Lofts is looking to evict Pryor and Briston, who lived at the apartment together.

The apartment filed court documents saying that the couple "violated rules and regulations" of their rental agreement. The documents show the apartment is seeking more than $2,200 in unpaid rent and attorney's fees.

"The problem with them filing it is I don't know that my client has been served and she's physically unable to be there as she's incarcerated at the Allegheny County Jail," said Rothman.

The eviction hearing is scheduled to take place Wednesday.

Briston and Pryor are expected to appear in court for their preliminary hearings on Thursday afternoon.
