Former Washington County swim coach accused of sexually abusing 6 children

CANONSBURG, Pa. (KDKA) - A Washington County man is accused of sexually abusing at least six boys, some as young as 5.

Leo McIntyre III worked as a swim coach at Goldfish Swim School in McMurray for five years, though according to the criminal complaints, the assaults happened at McIntyre's house on Winfield Street in Canonsburg and none of the allegations against McIntyre are from the school.

He was fired from the school in June for not following the curriculum and for not complying with brand standards.

"It sickens me," said a neighbor. "It's horrendous," another neighbor said.

Police say in October they received several child welfare reports alleging various types of sexual assault, including rape, on multiple victims by McIntyre.

During their forensic investigation, police concluded at least six boys ranging in age from 5 to 13 were sexually assaulted by McIntyre. The alleged assault took place in McIntyre's bedroom in the home he shares with his parents on Winfield Street in Canonsburg.

"For somebody to do that to somebody that age is just ridiculous. I feel bad for their families," a neighbor said.

According to the criminal complaint, the abuse happened multiple times with all the victims and continued for years in some instances.

One victim stated he suffered sexual abuse at the hands of McIntyre once a week for years. An 11-year-old victim said the abuse started when he was five and only ended a few months ago.

KDKA went to McIntyre's neighborhood on Thursday and knocked on the door but no one answered.

"I'm kind of in shock, it's hard for me to -- it's really a shame. I'm very sad for the children, that's all," a neighbor said.

McIntyre was denied bond. He is in the Washington County Jail and is due in court later this month.
