Wanted Man Walks Free Twice Before Being Arrested
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man wanted in a domestic violence case was arrested Wednesday night in Allegheny County after being allowed to walk free in two prior incidents.
Nile Brown, 18, of Swissvale, was initially picked up Monday night because he fit the description of a robbery suspect, but he was already wanted by police in Pittsburgh on domestic-assault-related charges filed by Tyra Perkins in March.
Police didn't get him then, and Swissvale Police didn't hold him on the PFA-related charges Monday night. So Brown went free.
"At the time, we were notified through the warrant office that this person had been arrested in Swissvale," Sonya Toler, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson, said. "Neither our department nor Swissvale was able to transfer him to the magistrate."
Swissvale Police had three officers on duty involved with a robbery case and contacted Pittsburgh to make the transfer. Pittsburgh, the department that held the warrant for Brown, wasn't in a position to pick him up.
According to Swissvale, Pittsburgh's response was: "Have no one to transport. Either release him or transport him."
They released him.
Brown was arrested and taken into custody Wednesday night. He is now in the County Jail on assault and theft charges.
