Walmart Employee Saves Woman From Burning Car In Parking Lot
HERMITAGE (KDKA) - A Walmart employee is being hailed as a hero after rescuing a woman from a burning car.
Ian Heffernan works the overnight shift at a Walmart in Hermitage, Mercer County. It was just before 7 a.m. On New Year's Day when a manager spotted a car on fire in the store's parking lot.
"As soon as he alerted everybody into the store about it, we all responded as quickly as we could. I got out there first. I believe I was the first one from the store," said Heffernan.

He grabbed a fire extinguisher to try and help, when he realized someone was inside the burning car.
"I tried to open up the door, and it was locked. Luckily the window as cracked enough to reach in and unlock the door and pull her out," Heffernan said.
He said the fire was contained to mostly the front of the car. He insists he isn't a hero.
"I'm not a hero. I work a lot of amazing associates and if it hadn't been me out here it would have been someone else," Heffernan said.
Police identified the woman involved in the case as Dylan Klink, 21, of Hermitage. She wasn't injured throughout the whole ordeal, but she was charged with drunk driving.
