Vinny Cerrato On Kirby Wilson Interviewing With Baltimore
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson is a finalist for the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator position.
The Fan Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette of the Post-Gazette reported that Wilson will interview Wednesday.
Vinny Cerrato of 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore joined Starkey and Mueller, and is familiar with Wilson's credentials from working with him in Washington.
"Kirby's a smart guy, players like (him), good motivator," Cerrato said. "John Harbaugh wants to run a physical style, a tough style. Kirby already knows the AFC North, that's what the Steelers are, so it wouldn't be that big of an adjustment."
Cerrato said that the new coordinator will be chosen in part because of chemistry with the rest of the offensive staff.
"What fits the staff the best? I think Harbaugh would probably like to stay within, but I don't see that happening," Cerrato said.
Cerrato added that the new coordinator will probably be an outsider, because Cerrato thinks that the Ravens need new ideas.
Cerrato says he's surprised that the Steelers would give Wilson permission to interview with a division rival.
"I'm a little surprised that they let Kirby, just because it's within the division," Cerrato said. "But then again, I think Kirby's done a lot for that organization and I think it's a class organization."
