Vandals Change 'Black Lives Matter' Sign To 'Blue Lives Matter More' At Local Church
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A local church is upset after a "Black Lives Matter" sign was vandalized.
The banner in front of the First Unitarian Church in Shadyside was changed sometime overnight to "Blue Lives Matter More."
Church workers found the banner with the words "Black" and "Matter" crossed out with spray paint.
The church says the sign was temporary until they could hang a permanent sign from the bell tower.
The church's minister, Rev. David Herndon tells the Trib, "I didn't feel anger so much as I felt unsettled and troubled."
The church's Facebook page says its mission is "to promote love, reason and freedom in religion, to foster lifelong spiritual growth, and to act for social justice. We encourage seekers of all faiths, nationalities, races, genders, ages, abilities and sexual orientations to visit our congregation."
