HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) -- The weekly service at the Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church in the Hill District was held outside Sunday morning, just across the street from where a fire erupted Saturday night that cost six families their homes.

The four-story apartment building in Iowa Street went up in flames around 8 p.m. Saturday. All residents got out of the building safely, but one firefighter was injured.

Eleven adults and 17 children were displaced by the fire. Some went to the nearby church to spend the night.

At Sunday's service, Pastor Gavin Walton incorporated a message to strengthen the community and their bonds with their neighbors. He told them this won't be the last time the church focuses on the community.
