One woman killed, another injured in shooting outside Uniontown restaurant
UNIONTOWN, Pa. (KDKA) - One woman is dead and another was injured following a shooting outside of a restaurant in Uniontown.
Police say they were called to Something Different along Austin Street around 9:40 p.m. Sunday after there was a shooting outside of the restaurant.
Lt. Tom Kolencik told KDKA that an argument started inside the restaurant and the owner told the people to leave and once outside, that's when the shooting took place.
Shaquisa Sims, 32, was one of the people shot. She was taken to the hospital where she later died. Jasmine Johnson, 29, was also shot outside of the restaurant.
Police say that 21-year-old Andrew Howard was determined to be responsible for the shooting. During the incident, he was shot in the upper arm and was taken to a hospital in West Virginia.
"Their accounts are that Howard brandished a firearm," Lt. Kolencik said.
It's unclear if he shot himself, but police say only one gun was recovered at the scene.
"We don't know how that happened, if it was accidental, accidentally shot himself, or there was another shooter," Lt. Kolencik added.
What started the argument is still unclear, but police say that Sims and Johnson were friends and that Johnson is known to be Howard's girlfriend.
Howard is facing charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and firearms charges, among others.
Once he was released from the hospital, Howard waived extradition and was brought back to Pennsylvania.
He was arraigned and is being held in the Fayette County Prison.
