Hundreds Fill Uniontown Church For Community Prayer Service
UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- A vigil was held Friday for the two teenagers killed in an accident earlier this week in Fayette County.
More than 300 people filled Calvary Baptist Church in Uniontown Friday evening to pray for the teens killed in the car crash on Wednesday afternoon.
At the same time, they also prayed for the recovery of two other teens in the same car who were seriously injured.
Killed in the crash were 17-year-old De'Andre Jones and 16-year-old Trevor McFadden.
"It's horrific," Calvary Pastor Ron Hudson said. "The pain, the suffering, all we can do is pray, be there and hug each other."
The injured teens, Ziaire Ellis and Rodney Harris, continue to recover after sustaining critical injuries in the crash.
All four were students at Uniontown High School.
"These four young men were very loved by not only their peers but also other people within the community and their families," said Pastor Vincent Winfrey Jr., of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. "So, what we want to do is, we want to bring everybody together and promote healing and some peace of mind to everyone's families that were involved in this tragic accident."
Devin Fitzgerald, De'Andre's brother, said his younger brother "never was in trouble, and never made the same mistakes I did."
State Police are continuing to look for a black Cadillac that a witness said he saw racing with the other car seconds before the vehicle with the four teens crashed into an SUV in South Union Township.
Several Uniontown churches organized the vigil.
