Two women shot in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood overnight Monday

Pittsburgh police investigating shooting in Lawrenceville

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Pittsburgh police need your help finding a female suspect after they say she shot and injured two other women in Lawrenceville following an argument inside a business early Friday morning.

Both victims are in their 20s, with one in critical condition and the other stable.

Jeanne Zell is concerned after hearing what happened just feet from her door early Monday morning.

"I'm very sad to hear that," Zell said.

Her neighbor, Matt Ryan, feels the same.

"It's a little unsettling," Ryan said.

It was just before 4 a.m. when Ryan saw flashing lights outside his Lawrenceville home and wondered what was going on.

"I thought somebody maybe was just sick or something like, you know, there's older people in the neighborhood, so maybe someone called the ambulance," Ryan said.

Police said they got calls about a woman in her 20s, shot in her chest and taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, and not long after, learned about a bullet grazing the arm of another woman in her 20s, who was dropped off at a different hospital.

Through their investigation, police found that both got shot outside by 42nd and Butler after a dispute inside a Middle Eastern restaurant called Dijlah and that a third female was responsible for firing one round from a gun.

"Lawrenceville is an up-and-coming neighborhood, so for something like that to happen, where you've got million-dollar condos going up less than 100 meters away, it's just, I don't think it was anything anybody was ready for," Ryan said.

For the most part, Ryan and Zell said they feel safe and haven't had issues with the business.

"The restaurant has always been cooperative," Zell said.

They just hope folks can stop using weapons to solve their problems.

"Use your words. We tell kids, use your words," Zell said.

KDKA-TV reached out to the business for comment, but has not heard back at this time.

If you have any information about the incident, you're asked to call Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7800.
