Two People Shot During Home Invasion In Uniontown
UNIONTOWN (KDKA) - Two people were hospitalized after an early morning home invasion and shooting in Fayette County.
It all started at a home on Albion Street, just off of Morgantown Street in South Union Township.
State police spent hours at the home on Albion Street, shattered glass visible on the front storm door.
Police say around 3 a.m. the woman who lived there, identified by state police as 25-year-old Richelle Sumey, called 911 reporting that three men were breaking into the rented house, and that several shots had been fired.
"She reported to us that she does not own any guns. She is not in any possession of any guns," said Sgt. Jeffrey Schaeffer, of Pennsylvania State Police. "She did call a boyfriend of hers to come to the house. He did respond to the house."
Police say the boyfriend, who also lives at the home, was let go after detectives spent hours attempting to get information from him. He did not give a statement.
Police say one of the gunshot victims, identified as 20-year-old Daquaan Lewis of Uniontown, was found in the back of the house and taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
A second turned up at Uniontown Hospital with a superficial wound. He is identified by state police as Isaac Farrell, of 20, of Uniontown.
"It is believed that at least part of the shooting took place in the alley," said Sgt. Schaeffer.
Police say the couple left the home following the shooting in a car.
While on the phone with 911, the woman who lives at the house allegedly told a dispatcher she was nervous that the suspects may return and left with her boyfriend.
The couple returned when police arrived.
"She was in fear and believed the actors had left, and so in order to ensure her safety, she left the area and then came back," Sgt. Schaeffer said.
Police believe the suspects may have left in a blue car, possibly a hatchback. They are still looking for that possible third suspect.
