Teen killed, another injured after shooting near New Kensington Police Department

1 dead after double shooting in New Kensington

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- A 16-year-old was killed and another teenager injured after shots were fired near the New Kensington Police Department on Sunday.

Dispatchers confirmed that the two people were shot in the 1100 block of Fourth Avenue just after noon at the Valley Royal Court housing community. No officers were injured.

The Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office said 16-year-old Divine Warner of Arnold was shot in an exchange of gunfire with a 19-year-old from South Greensburg. He was shot in the abdomen but is expected to survive, the district attorney's office said. 

There remains no active threat to the community, and the investigation is ongoing, the DA's office said.
