2 shot in Spring Hill
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Two people were taken to the hospital after a shooting in Pittsburgh's Spring Hill neighborhood early on Monday morning.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, around 6 a.m., police were called to the 130 block of Rhine Place for reports of multiple shots fired.
Once they arrived, they learned that two females had been shot and taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.
One victim was shot in the abdomen and is in serious condition while the other was shot in the foot and is in stable condition.
Pittsburgh Police's Violent Crime Unit responded to the scene and is investigating.
Some officers spent Monday morning monitoring the Three Rivers Manor Apartment Complex after collecting evidence of the shooting.
"They're like back-to-back," said Deneane Brown, who has lived in the area for more than 15 years. "It's like every day. It's ridiculous."
Brown lives near the complex and said the ongoing violence makes her fear for her family's safety, especially her 12-year-old daughter.
"It's really sad," said Brown. "It's children now. It's women. It's people that don't have anything to do with anything."
Brown said her other daughter and grandchildren lived in the apartments, but just moved out this year.
"She loved the neighborhood," said Brown. "It was just the violence and the drugs and everything that's in the neighborhood."
Back in July, police said two men were shot in the same complex.
Brown believes unity and more of a police presence may be a good solution.
"I love the community," said Brown. "If we can just all stick together and keep the bad people out, that would be great."
