Sen. Toomey says the goal of today's forum was to allow baseball fans everywhere to hear what is being done to resume the season safely.
Cherington says the league, its players, teams and health officials have collaborated to come up with protocols to ensure safety.
"Anything like this, an undertaking like this -- which is monumental, I would say -- is not going to come off without a hitch," Cherington says.
"It's not going to be a perfectly smooth road, but the effort that's gone into trying to give us a chance to bring baseball back at the major league level, continuing to make adjustments around us to give ourselves a chance to get to opening day and beyond, to me has been really impressive."
The Major League season will start Thursday night in Washington, D.C.
