Suspected Drug Dealer Arrested In N. Versailles Also Wanted In W. Va.
NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) – A routine traffic stop ended with a suspected drug dealer behind bars.
Brandyn Elston kept his head down as he was walked out of the North Versailes Police station. The 25-year-old is facing a number of drug charges.
"He was taken into custody with 25 bricks of heroin," Officer Norman Locke with the North Versailles Police said.
Police say the drugs were discovered during a traffic stop along Route 22 in Wilkins Township.
Authorities had been targeting Elston for about a month. They were planning for an undercover officer to do a controlled buy Wednesday, but the traffic stop happened before that buy. The investigation into Elston's alleged drug dealing was the focus of a number of law enforcement agencies.
"It was a joint investigation between Wilkins Township Police, McKees Rocks Police, North Versailles and Swissvale, under the umbrella of the District Attorney's Narcotics Enforcement Team," Locke said.
And Elston isn't just facing charges here in Pennsylvania.
"He's on federal parole out of West Virginia for similar charges, weapons and drugs," Locke said.
Police say the drugs had a street value of about $12,000.
They say this arrest is just one step in an ongoing effort to clean up the streets.
