Suspect In Multiple New York Robberies Arrested In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Authorities in Pittsburgh arrested a man who was wanted in connection to multiple robberies in New York Sunday.

According to the Allegheny County sheriff's office, 29-year-old Frank C. Jones of Syracuse, NY, was wanted in connection to robberies at a dairy store in Syracuse and a bank robbery in Dewitt, NY. The Syracuse FBI office suspected that Jones was in the Pittsburgh area and alerted agents at the Pittsburgh FBI office. The sheriff's office says the Allegheny County sheriff's fugitive squad and the Pittsburgh FBI office then found that family members of Jones lived on the North Side.

Around 9 a.m. Sunday, authorities were sent to the Allegheny Commons apartment complex on East Ohio Street, where they found Jones staying with a relative. He was taken into custody and charged as a fugitive at the Allegheny County Jail, where he waits to be sent back to New York.

The Allegheny County sheriff's office says Jones' relative was not aware that Jones was a wanted fugitive.
