Penguins' Stanley Cup Ring Stolen During Break-In At Front Office Worker's Home

STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins' Stanley Cup championship this past spring was a win for the city and for the people who work in the organization's front office.

That's because not only did the players get Stanley Cup rings, the staff got what's known as an "employee" ring. It looks just like the others, only a little less bling.

But sometime on Monday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., someone broke into the home of Chris LaFronte, who works in the organization's marketing department. His ring was stolen.

Neighbors couldn't believe it happened in broad daylight. Yolanda Jordan called it plain scary.

Stowe Township Police, who handled the initial investigation, say the ring, as well as an Xbox, a Cannon camera and some "Beats" headphones were taken, possible through a rear window of the home.

Police say this is the only burglary in the area, but neighbors tell KDKA-TV there have been others.

Right now, police don't have much to go on. They have checked out stores in the area where someone might try to sell the items, but so far nothing. One local store said it doesn't resell jewelry, but will be on the lookout for the electronics.

The owner says he just wants his ring back, and it won't be hard to spot if anyone tries to sell it.

Allegheny County Police are taking over the investigation. The ring is valued at around $10,000 and police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.
