Steelers To Play In 2015 Hall Of Fame Game

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Jerome Bettis isn't the only one heading to the Hall of Fame in 2015 as it was announced today the Steelers will take on the Minnesota Vikings in the 2015 Hall of Fame game.

The Hall of Fame game is the annual kickoff to the preseason for the NFL.

The last time we saw a Steelers team in Canton was when the entire team traveled to the 2010 Hall of Fame induction ceremony for then defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau.

Given the Jerome Bettis induction this year is certain to draw a large contingency of Steeler fans, it seems like a natural fit for the Steelers to play in this years game.

The last time the Steelers actually played in the Hall of Fame game was back in 2007 when they beat the New Orleans Saints by a score of 20-7.  That game also marked the debut of Mike Tomlin as Steelers Head Coach.

The Hall of Fame Game is Sunday, August 9th in Canton, Ohio.

NFL Hall of Fame Vice-President of Communications Pete Fierle joined the Starkey and Mueller show to talk about the announcement and how excited they are to have both Jerome Bettis' induction ceremony and the Steelers game in town together.

"The Bus is coming to Canton and now we hope there are buses following him with some Steelers fans coming over. It will be a big time Pittsburgh weekend as another Steeler legend gets enshrined in Canton and then to have the Steelers in the game it will be a magical kickoff to the NFL season," Fierle said.
