Steelers Replace Kirby Wilson With Vikings' Running Backs Coach
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Steelers announced today that they have hired Minnesota Vikings running backs coach James Saxon to replace their former running backs coach Kirby Wilson who recently went to the Vikings.
Saxon is entering his 23rd season in the NFL as a player or coach, and most recently, he spent the past three seasons with the Vikings as their running backs coach.
Prior to his coaching stint with the Vikings, Saxon coached with the Miami Dolphins (2008-10), Kansas City Chiefs (2001-07) and Buffalo Bills (2000).
Saxon also played in the NFL, being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of the 1988 NFL Draft.
Saxon played in the league for eight seasons, appearing in 111 games, rushing for 533 yards with five touchdowns while also recording 69 career receptions for 515 yards.
