Steelers & Bengals Refraining From Trash Talk Ahead Of Latest Showdown, For Now
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA/AP) –Things were definitely interesting the last time the Steelers and Bengals met.
Personal fouls by Bengals' linebacker Vontaze Burfict and cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones moved the Steelers into field goal range in the closing seconds of an 18-16 playoff win at Paul Brown Stadium last January.
Burfict knocked out Steelers' wide receiver Antonio Brown and Jones got into it with Steelers' assistant coach Joey Porter.
So far, the Bengals and Steelers have refrained from trash talking ahead of this Sunday's home opener at Heinz Field.
It took the Bengals a long time to get over the playoff loss to Pittsburgh last season. The trash talking on social media went on for many weeks, with neither side willing to give up the grudge.
The Bengals and Steelers are minding their manners heading into the rematch - for now, anyway.
KDKA Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says the game on Sunday will be different for one big reason.
"Burfict won't be there. He's the guy in the middle of everything. He's the guy who celebrated knocking out Le'Veon Bell and then he knocked out Antonio Brown in the end of the [playoff game]," Bouchette said.
