State Police Search For Evidence At Mercer Co. Waste Disposal Site
PINE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police were back on Thursday at the waste disposal site in Mercer County where a woman's body was found by workers just 24 hours ago.
The victim had no identification, and investigators say the body could have been brought in from any number of areas.
State police are trying to put out a usable photograph of the young woman to send to police departments everywhere. Apparently, there is a lot of missing person reports.
It would be a photo of her corpse, but police have little else to go on. They are hoping the public can help.
KDKA has been told that a significant number of state police officers were at the waste transfer station Thursday afternoon looking for any evidence that would help identify the young woman's body found around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
She is described as a white female between the ages of 16 and 25.
"Five-foot-one to five-foot-three approximately, medium build, black tank top, also had on a green bra," said Trooper Dan Kesten, of Pennsylvania State Police.
The facility, called Tri-County Industries, Inc., is in Pine Township, close to Grove City.
Police say any truck from a significant area could have unknowingly brought the body to the facility from a dumpster in the region.
"As far east as Clarion, as far west as Youngstown, as far north as Erie, down into Mercer County," said Trooper Kesten. "A very large area."
KDKA's Marty Griffin is told there was an autopsy conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. We do not have any results from that autopsy.
If you have any information on the case, you are asked to please call state police.
