State police and federal agents raid Ligonier Valley Police Department

LIGONIER, Pa. (KDKA) - State police with federal Homeland Security agents raided the Ligonier Valley Police Department headquarters this week. 

KDKA reached out to Westmoreland County solicitor Mark Sorice regarding the raid, and while details remain limited, Sorice said, "Chief Berger is the only subject of investigation."

Mike Matrunics is serving as Acting Chief, Sorice added. Chief John Berger has been on administrative leave since Thursday. 

The department is operating without interruption.

The police force was only founded four years ago when they merged Ligonier Township and Ligonier Borough's departments.
