Shawn Roarke: Pens Didn't Know How To Adjust To Elements
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Penguins lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 5-1 Saturday night in an outdoor game at Chicago's Soldier Field. Shawn Roarke of NHL.com told Tab Douglas and Stacy Kauffman that the Pens didn't appear to be able to adjust to the conditions.
"They didn't know how to play a simple, straightforward game because they never have to do it," Roarke said. "And if you don't do it, how do you make it happen? I think that's kind of the conundrum that they had."
Roarke said that the league should continue to play outdoor games.
"It was a spectacle. People want to be entertained," Roarke said. "The hockey purists look at it and say, 'Well that's not our game, you couldn't make a long pass, the puck was getting stuck along the wall.' Yeah, all those things are true. But, what is also true is you look at that game and it really touched your heart if you're a sports fan, if you're a hockey fan."
