Sharks' Couture Accuses Crosby Of 'Cheating' On Faceoffs
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins lead the Stanley Cup Final 2-0 as the series shifts to San Jose.
The Penguins have frustrated the Sharks on the ice and some players are voicing those frustrations off of it. In fact, Logan Couture has accused Sidney Crosby of cheating – on faceoffs.
"He cheats and he gets away with it," Couture said after Game 2. "He's Sidney Crosby."
Couture apparently has an issue with Crosby "timing" faceoffs.
"He times them and they don't kick him out for some reason," Couture said. "Probably because of who he is."
Crosby dominated in the faceoff dot in Game 2, winning 17 of 24 draws. He also won 3 of 4 against Couture.
It's also worth noting that faceoffs are generally timing plays by nature. So, we're not sure what Couture is upset about.
This is probably just gamesmanship by Couture as he and the Sharks are looking to gain an edge in the series.
It wouldn't be the first time, nor will it be the last. Everyone is looking for an edge this time of year.
Dave Hanson, of "Slapshot" movie fame, knows hockey and runs the RMU Island Sports Center. He says Crosby won 70 percent of his faceoffs because "he works at it."
"There was a time he was not very good and he spent the summer in Nova Scotia working on it, and came back as one of the best faceoff people in the league."
