Several Men Come To The Rescue Of Woman Pinned By Car In Homewood
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - It was a close call Wednesday morning for two women in Homewood.
They were in a car on Hamilton Avenue near the Nazarene Baptist Church when it happened.
They were about to attend prayer services at the church. One of the women parked the Nissan, and the car started drifting in reverse.
Before first responders got to the scene, several men nearby were able to lift the car off one of the women who was pinned by the vehicle.
Rescuer Roosevelt Cartlidge said, "The lady that was driving was pinned by the car. She was walking out to help her passenger, I guess she thought the car was in park, and it must have been in neutral, and it started rolling back on her."
"The driver was pinned under the door, and me, my cousin, and two other men lifted the car off of her," Cartlidge said.
Cartlidge called it a "team effort."
The women were shaken up by the incident and suffered some cuts and bruises, but no life-threatening injuries.
