Penn Power plans power outage in Zelienople area Sunday
Penn Power has a planned power outage in the Zelienople area from 12-3 p.m. on Sunday to allow crews to complete work that will enhance service reliability for customers.
"Crews are constructing a backup power feed that will help keep the lights on for customers if wires or equipment on their regular line are damaged or need to be taken out of service," Penn Power said.
A second outage is planned for Dec. 3 from 12-3 p.m.

Allegheny County Sheriff's Office Conceal Carry Permit Event
On Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., the municipal building on Monroeville Boulevard will play host to a license-to-carry event.
To get a new permit or renew a permit you already have, bring a valid ID and $20 cash.
Pittsburgh Police delivering Thanksgiving meals
Rotary Clubs in Bethel-St. Clari, Northern Allegheny, and Holy Assumption of St. Mary Orthodox Church are all partnering with Pittsburgh Police to cook, assemble, and deliver Thanksgiving meals this year.

Gun safe recall
A major recall is in effect for a biometric gun safe and it affects several brands, including Fortress and Cabela's.
A programming feature on the safe can allow them to open without authorized access. A 12-year-old boy died after reportedly getting a gun from one of the safes. There have been dozens of reports so far of people with unpaired fingerprints getting into the safes.

Fisher Price wooden train recall
Thousands of Fisher-Price Thomas and Friends wooden trains are being recalled because the company says the magnets on about 21,000 "troublesome truck and crates" and "troublesome truck and paint" toys could loosen or even come off - making them a choking hazard.

City of Pittsburgh Halloween Block Party Permits
You can keep the spooky fun in your neighborhood going this fall by applying for a block party permit in the City of Pittsburgh. The permits are valid from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and only on the 31st. It's a $25 fee and applications have to be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23.

A new round of applications is open for Pennsylvania's Whole Home Repairs Program. It offers up to $50,000 in grants and forgivable loans to address issues like roofing, electrical wiring, and accessibility concerns.
Homeowners who earn 80-percent or less of the area's median income are eligible.
