1 Person Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash On Route 8
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- At least one person is dead following a two-vehicle, head-on crash on Route 8 in Richland Township.
First responders were called to the scene just after 9 a.m. on Route 8 at Sandy Hill Road in front of Harvest Valley Farms. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office was called a short time later.
According to police, reports from witnesses indicate a man was driving erratically along Route 8 northbound when his car crossed the centerline and crashed into a Penn Waste semi that was stopped at a red light.
"The light changed, he started to pull out, I started to pull out, and I stopped because I saw the car coming directly toward him, and I don't know if he was still moving or stopped, the fella in the truck, but there was nowhere he could go," Tom Fleming, a witness to the crash, said.
The victim was identified by the medical examiner as Michael Petro.
