One Person Killed In Overnight Head-On Accident In Hampton Township
HAMPTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- One person was killed in an accident on Route 8 in Hampton Township.
23-year-old Kaitlyn Eckelberry of Canton was involved in a head-on accident around midnight early Saturday morning in the 3800 Block of Route 8.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gannon University released a statement on Sunday mourning the loss of Eckelberry. She had graduated from Gannon in 2018 and had been a former award-winning softball athlete.

According to Allegheny County Police, Eckelberry was driving a Hyundai Elantra.
The driver of the other vehicle, another 23-year-old woman, is in critical condition, but has not been identified at this time.
Police say that it appears that the other driver, operating a Jeep Cherokee, was traveling northbound and crossed the center line, striking Eckelberry's vehicle headed southbound.
There were no other passengers in either of the vehicles other than the drivers themselves.
They are unsure at this time what caused the Cherokee to do so.
Police say it is too early to tell if any charges are warranted in the accident.
