Rostraver Police Search For Pipe-Wielding Bowling Alley Robbers

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) – Police are looking for two men who attempted to burglarize a Westmoreland County bowling alley and attacked two cleaning workers.

Police say it happened at the Brunswick Bowling Lanes on State Route 51 in Rostraver Township.

Two people there to clean at 5:20 a.m. on Oct. 10 went inside and were confronted by two men wearing masks and swinging pipes at them.

"One of the actors swung the cane at one of the cleaning personnel, and then as they chased them out of the room, he swung it a second time and struck a counter," said Chief Gregory Resetar, of Rostraver Police.

Police say the two suspects had been trying to get into an office safe from the cleaning staff arrived.

"I believe they were there nearly two hours working on the safe," said Chief Resetar. "They used a hammer, they used saws, they used grinders, used crowbars."

The suspects never got into the safe, police said.

Police say the men then ran from the building and jumped in a back KIA SUV toward Interstate 70.

Both suspects are describes as white males. One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, yellow shirt and jeans. The other man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt that said "Pittsburgh" in yellow lettering.

Neither one of the cleaning ladies involved were hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-929-8811.
