Roethlisberger: Keep Playoff Format The Way It Is
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- There has been discussion recently about the possibility of expanding the NFL playoffs.
Bob Pompeani asked Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger if the expanded playoffs would be good for the game. Roethlisberger likes the format the way it is.
"Of course it would be good for the game for Roger (Goodell) and the money that he can make, which sometimes that's all we players think that he wants, to just make more money," Roethlisberger said. "If it stays the way it is, then that makes you play that much harder in the regular season to get in."
Jerome Bettis entered Super Bowl weekend as a finalist for the Hall of Fame. Before the vote was announced, Roethlisberger told Pompeani that Bettis should get in.
"It wasn't just third and short or goal line situations," Roethlisberger said. "He was getting the ball every single play, and defenses could hone in on it, and yet he still racked up all those numbers and was so valuable of a player. It speaks volumes for the type of player he was and how good he was when you have 10, 11 guys keying on you."
