Rite Aid Robbery Suspect Apologizes After Arrest
AMBRIDGE (KDKA) -- Police say surveillance video helped them track down a suspect who stolen $33 from a Rite Aid in Beaver County.
"I apologize to everybody that's been affected by my drug addiction, by the things I've done," said Mark Davis, the robbery suspect.
The robbery happened Saturday night. Police say the suspect was caught on surveillance video getting in and out of a white Monte Carol, the suspected getaway car.
"We had videos. We were able to identify the female that was driving the getaway car," said Chief James Mann, of the Ambridge Police Department.
According to police, Davis was also caught on camera inside the Rite Aid. Employees were closing the store for the night and had locked all the registers.
So, police say the suspect took $33 from the clerk, who was able to pick him out of photo array.
"Showed it to the victim of the robbery, he picked Mr. Davis out in two seconds," said Chief Mann.
After being taken into custody, police say Davis admitted the whole thing to officers.
"He has a severe drug addiction, that's basically what his problem is," said Chief Mann. "He said he was very sick that night, he needed dope and it was a spur of the moment thing."
It turns out Davis is no stranger to trouble. Police tell us he's got a rap sheet that's 28 pages long.
With that kind of record, he's facing five to 10 years in prison.
