Rising Number Of Zika Cases In Pennsylvania
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The number of Zika virus cases in Pennsylvania is growing.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the CDC has confirmed there are now a total of five cases in the state, up from four last week. Test results are still pending in 148 other patients.
The virus is spread by a certain type of mosquito.
The biggest concern is for pregnant women, as well as those who could become pregnant.

That's because a recent spike in the number of Zika cases in Brazil seems to correlate with a spike in the number of cases of babies being born with severe birth defects, mostly microcephaly.
The symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain and pink eye, but many times there are no symptoms at all. Only around 20 percent of patients show symptoms.
