Reward offered for information related to emaciated puppy found in Beaver County
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (KDKA) - The Beaver County Humane Society is offering a $500 reward for information related to a stray emaciated puppy found in a wooded area on Thursday.
The puppy was brought to the humane society for treatment and was found to be hypothermic, soaked in urine and too weak to stand because of an old injury to his left front leg. The puppy also appeared to have an extreme case of parasites and malnutrition, which caused him to be anemic.
The humane society said they are unsure if the puppy had been out in the elements for an extended period of time or dumped recently.
They believe he's around four months old. He only weighs 12.5 pounds but his caretakers said he should be closer to 25 pounds at his age.
"He's just such a sweetheart and it's really scary to think that had someone not picked him up, he would have never made it out of those woods," said shelter manager Cailin Rankin.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Beaver County Humane Society Police Department at 724-775-5801 ext. 110.
The puppy, who doesn't have a name yet, is not yet ready for adoption. He's on the mend and could be ready for a foster home in a week or so.
