Report: Steelers Ranked 20th In NFL Heading Into 2014 Season
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - At the end of the 2013 season, there was much optimism surrounding the Steelers' offense after they carried the team to a 6-2 finish over their final eight games. Now, heading into the 2014 season, it seems like most of the experts are focusing on that same offense as the key to the team getting back to the playoffs after back-to-back 8-8 seasons.
A panel of football experts at Fox Sports including Jay Glazer, Donovan McNabb, Brian Urlacher and Randy Moss took an in-depth look at expectations for the Steelers this year and how they stack up against the rest of the NFL.
A few of the keys to the Steelers' success according to the experts are the relationship between Ben Roethlisberger and Todd Haley (again), the additions to the defensive side of the ball and the team's ability to run the ball with Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount behind the offensive line with their new coach Mike Munchak.
With the 20th overall ranking that the experts assigned the Steelers, the only team ranked lower than them in the AFC North is the Browns at No. 23, meaning a projected third place finish in the division.
Meanwhile, Roethlisberger told Ron Cook and Andrew Fillipponi of "The Cook and Poni Show" that he likes where the team's offense is headed and even shared what he's doing during the offseason to try and make sure they don't miss the playoffs for the third consecutive year.
