Report: Edinson Volquez To Sign 2-Year Deal With Kansas City Royals

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - According to CBSSports.com Baseball Writer Jon Heyman, former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Edinson Volquez has a two-year deal worth $20 million in place with the Kansas City Royals.

Volquez was a key part to the Pirates success in 2013 after signing a 1-year, $5 million deal with the team.

Volquez surpassed all expectations in his one season with the Pirates by going 13-7 with a 3.04 ERA and 140 strikeouts in 192.2 innings pitched.

Those numbers were good enough for Volquez to start the Pirates' wild card game against the San Francisco Giants in which he pitched 5 innings giving up five earned runs and taking the loss.
