Report: Ben Roethlisberger To Sit Out Preseason Finale
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Amid sporadic performances in the first three preseason games for the first team offense, reports are now coming out that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not play in the finale.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and 93-7 The FAN Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette broke the news on Twitter.
One of the lone bright spots for the offense so far, Roethlisberger went 24-for-37 for 331 yards while throwing three touchdowns and one interception this preseason.
With below average performances in the run game and a transition to the no-huddle offense this year, much will be asked of Roethlisberger. So, he'll need to be sharp right out of the gate in the team's Week 1 matchup with the Cleveland Browns.
Meanwhile, the threat of suspensions still hang over the head of running backs Le'Veon Bell and Legarrette Blount stemming from their marijuana possession arrests and Bell's DUI.
