Ray Searage: Francisco Liriano May Be About To Turn The Corner
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Wednesday to talk about the performance of his pitching staff.
During the interview, he offered his insight on what has been the biggest issue for the struggling Francisco Liriano.
"Well, that biggest thing is the groin injury that he got near the end of Spring Training," Searage said. "He's going to be battling that for a little bit, and if he doesn't stay mechanically sound, he feels it. And I'm not trying to make - we don't live on excuses, that's one of our things - he's trying to battle through it. But, at times, it's going to come to the top and it's going to show its ugly face. But, he's getting better with it, he's healing progressively, day in and day out. He threw a side [session] yesterday, and he goes, 'Ray, I don't feel anything, I feel great.' So, maybe we got over that hump and we're good to go from here on out."
