Radhames Liz Impressing At Pirates Spring Training

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Signed as a free agent in December, righty Radhamas Liz threw 3 scoreless innings Tuesday, with the help of three double plays. Liz has an ERA of 1.80 this Spring, giving up just 8 hits in 10 innings.

The 31-year old has some versatility and says he's focusing on throwing strikes rather than speculating if he makes the team.

Liz said the coaches have told him to pitch to early contact rather than trying for a strikeout, which has helped his control. Liz isn't even sure what role he would play, whether a long or short reliever, or even a starter.

"Right now, I don't know yet," Liz said. "I'm just throwing the ball, where ever they put me. I'll be ready for any situation."

Clint Hurdle said they will have meetings on Thursday to discuss decisions for the bullpen.
