Raccoon Found In Monroeville Tests Positive For Rabies

MONROEVILLE, Pa. (KDKA) -- A raccoon found in Monroeville has tested positive for rabies.

Allegheny County announced Tuesday a raccoon dropped off at its lab tested positive for the deadly virus.

The raccoon was found near the 500 block of Patton Street.

It was the 20th rabid animal reported in the county this year.

Rabies is a virus transmitted by an animal bite or scratch. Exposures due to a bite or scratch are nearly always fatal when left untreated.
