CRUST:

  • Large Bowl:
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 TBSP Sugar
  • 1 TSP Salt
  • Cut in ¾ Cup cold butter

Small Bowl:

  • 1 Egg
  • 2 TBSP cold water
  • ½ TSP white vinegar

Combine egg mixture into flour mix in large bowl. Gather into a ball in the bowl. Knead crust dough then shape into a flat disk. Roll out. Use extra flour on surface and rolling pin to avoid sticking.

PIE FILLING:

  • 8 McIntosh apples
  • 2 Granny Smith apples

Peel, core and slice apples. Drizzle lemon juice on peeled/sliced apples to keep from browning.

Make the bottom crust and lay into pie plate. Cover the bottom of the pie crust with sugar and cinnamon (optional) and 3 thick slices of butter. Layer in apple slices and create a dome shape. Sprinkle sugar on top of apple slices and add more slices of butter on top of sugar. Repeat crust recipe for top crust and lay on top of apple slices. Trim excess crust then pinch crust edges together to create a seal. Sprinkle milk on top crust or brush crust with egg wash. Make 3 or 4 small punctures on top of crust with a knife to create a vent.

Optional: Roll out excess crust to create decorative pieces with pie stamps or cookie cutters.

Bake at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and allow pie to cool. Enjoy!
