2 people hurt in violent head-on crash involving PRT bus in Penn Hills

PENN HILLS, Pa. (KDKA) -- Two people were injured early Friday morning when a truck and a PRT bus crashed head-on in Penn Hills.

The crash happened along Frankstown Road just before 5:30 a.m. 

The Penn Hills No. 7 Volunteer Fire Company said on social media that the drivers of both the truck and the PRT bus were trapped in their vehicles.

The fire company says the driver of the truck was unconscious and was taken to the hospital once freed from the vehicle.

The PRT bus driver was also freed from their vehicle and taken to the hospital.

The conditions of both patients are unknown at this time.

Frankstown Road was shut down for several hours while crews were at the scene of the crash. 

The fire company says the Pittsburgh Regional Transit Police Department is handing the investigation into what caused the crash.
